BBC Academy Learning Platform
Workholo engineered a scalable, highly accessible learning management system to host the BBC's internal and partner training content across video, text, and interactive assessments.
The story
behind it
The BBC Academy required a modern digital hub to deliver training to staff and external partners. The platform needed to be robust enough to serve thousands of concurrent users while maintaining strict accessibility standards.
What stood in the way
The previous system was difficult to navigate on mobile devices and struggled with high-bitrate video delivery across disparate global networks.
How we made it happen
Workholo developed a serverless architecture using AWS and a React-based frontend. We leveraged AWS CloudFront and Elemental MediaConvert to ensure smooth video delivery regardless of user location or bandwidth.
Impact that speaks
Monthly Certifications
Significant throughput of staff completing regulated training.
Mobile Engagement
Drastic increase in training completed on mobile devices via the new UI.
Downtime Incidents
Maintained perfect availability since the migration to serverless.
