Our client, a leader in North American logistics, faced critical performance bottlenecks and mounting technical debt with their core mainframe application. Keyhole Software was engaged to architect and execute a complete modernization strategy that would transition their field operations into a cloud-native, high-performance web environment without disrupting 24/7 business operations.
What stood in the way
The existing system was bottlenecked by legacy database locks and lacked a modern API layer, preventing integration with third-party tracking partners and mobile applications. Data latency was exceeding 5 seconds per request, causing significant delays in dispatching and tracking critical freight across multiple time zones.
How we made it happen
We implemented a staged migration using the Strangler Fig pattern, gradually moving functionality to a Spring Boot microservices backend and a React-based frontend. We introduced a distributed caching layer and an event-driven synchronization engine to keep the legacy and new systems in perfect alignment during the transition.
